Horse Pics....

HorseBack Riding- Thursday

Yesterday Mark and I were both off work! We had such a great day together! We went to Brown County and enjoyed the great outdoors! We both woke up WITHOUT AN ALARM CLOCK at 8:30 in the morning! I guess this proves that our bodies are getting used to being grown ups! :)

We headed out around 9:30. Went to Hardees for breakfast and headed toward Brown County. I have to say that we headed TOWARD Brown County because it certainly wasn't our first stop.. ;) When we got to the Edinburgh outlets, we had to make a pitstop! :) s0o0o0o00o0 After spending $180 on nothingness.... we moved on.... ;)

We got to Brown County around 1:00 and started riding horses about 1:15!! We got there at the perfect time! A group was just about to leave! Mark and I rode the back two horses! That was kind of scary. I was really hoping that we would be more towards the middle. But they let the seven year olds do that. ;) Speaking of seven year olds.. that is certainly who my horse was made for! Her name was Becky and she was soooo skinny! I felt really bad having to be the one to ride her!
The one in front of Mark was HUGE! So that didn't help the size my horse looked! :)

The hour ride was very interesting. At one point, one of the guys in front of us dropped his coat. This scared the horses and they didn't want to be by the coat. The problem for Mark and I was the COAT WAS ON THE TRAIL!!! Unfortunately for us, we were in the back so our horses were the ones affected. Mark's horse veered to the right. Mine completely wigged out and headed left... WAY LEFT... I freaked out!!!
I tried to steer Ol' Becky back towards the path but she was not having it. After yelling for the guide, Becky finally calmed down and got back on track. She scared the poop out of me though. ACK!

Becky was quite a character. When I first got on Becky at the saddle barn, the man helping warned me that Becky likes to slack off from the group, then trot forward. I'm not sure TROT is the way to explain it. Becky would stop, eat some leaves, hang out, then FREAKIN RUN to catch up to the group! Let's just say my caboose feels a little sore today... :)

Speaking of running... Anytime that the horses would start running, the horse in front of Mark FARTED!!! Not just once... like a million times!! haha* It was hilarious! ... at first.... Then we realized how much running we actually did on the hour long ride. Let me be the first to say that those were some of the most RANK farts I've ever had the opportunity to smell! EEEWWWWW!!!

Mark had a really funny horse (Jeremy). Jeremy was bit by Martha the farter before we even took off for the trail. Jeremy was CRANKY that he was behind Martha!! The first opportunity he got, Jeremy ran right in front of the horse! He cut the line!!! haha* We THOUGHT it had to do with the biting.. I think it might have had something to do with the FARTING that was to come........

Jeremy knew not to get off the trail and he recognized that it was his duty to follow the horse in front of him. He had his NOSE in the BUTT of the horse in front of him the WHOLE TIME!!!.... Unfortunately for Jeremy, the horse in front of him didn't appreciate it very much. Jeremy nearly got KICKED TWICE by the horse! Unfortunately, MARK almost did too!

We did eventually end at the saddle barn safe and sound. But of course there had to be some crazy Baker adventures to tell about! :)

After the saddle barn, we headed to the lake to hike. There was an old man with a toy boat heading toward the lake at the same time we were. Being the creepers we are, we took a seat and watch the old man. It was s0o0o0o cute! He played with his toy boat for quite a while! Mark and I were very entertained for about ten minutes! It was very cute to see the old man playing by himself! :) I think I added that motorized toy boat to my Christmas list! haha*

The hike was a lot of fun! It was a little over a mile. Mark wanted to find a walking stick to really feel like an authentic hiker... He sure found one... There was another ten minutes of entertainment...

There were lots of ladybugs along the trail. Mark was swarmed by them! He enjoyed flicking them off the ledge and into the lake as well... aww.... how sweet....

After the hike, we headed to the Nature Center. Mark didn't think he had ever been to one and thought it would be cheesy. He enjoyed it more than I did! There were skeletons and snakes and birds galore! :) It was a neat little adventure.

Overall, we had a great time at Brown County State Park. We went to lunch at a little place called the Overlook. (Compliments of our GPS system...haha*) We were clearly the only non-regulars. :) It was good food and we had a great view of the Nashville golf course.

It was a great day off with my husband! Now it is back to reality....:)
