Easter Sunday Service In Czechy

So Rachel and I went to the nine a.m. service at the church on the top of the hill today.. I was so excited to go! On the walk to the church, we heard the church bells ringing and I took a video! I was ready! It was quite an experience.. And of course I was taking notes diligently so that I could blog about it later.. :) Let's start off with the fact that it was a Catholic service.. Which meant I was prepared for a two hour sermon.... Turns out we were home by 10:30, which wasn't too bad! The thing about being at the one hour service was the fact that everything was in CZECHY! :) Hymns, prayers, responses, sermons, etc....Czech, Czech, Czech... Czech out the pic I took of one of the hymns. Try to sing bad boy.. I certainly did.. haha* We did sing one hymn three different times. It had the word "Aleluja" 32 times in the song, so I know I got that part right... I also understood the word "Amen" throughout the service... At a few points in the service, the priest would do this follow the leader type of thing where he would say something and we would repeat it.. On the tram after the service, I was talking to Rachel.. She informed me that we were, in fact, not repeating what the priest said.. BAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! I'm such a fool! :) Okay, to give me some kind of credit, I wouldn't understand a thing in a Catholic church back in the States, let alone in the CZECH REPUBLIC! There was so much standing, sitting, kneeling, and responding that I was pretty much lost the whole time.... Speaking of lost, I bet the 'regulars' were thrown off today when Rachel and I came in. I don't know about at your church, but at my parents' church back home, if someone sits in a pew that they usually don't sit in, people don't know what to do! It is quite comical! I love it! haha* I'm guessing that's pretty standard, though.. Speaking of the pews, they are really old, remember.. I was afraid that I was going to break them with all the sitting, standing, and kneeling I was doing... ((Luckily I didn't)).. But the pews were built at SERIOUSLY a 95 degree angle! haha* It was hilarious! I think it was a tactic to keep the people awake.. :) It sure worked for me! All in all, I had a great time at church today! Being with other Christians on such a wonderful day is great! The church was absolutely breathtaking as well. I do miss my family and friends from back home though... Wish I could hear Mom and Dad sing "Up from the Grave He Arose...." :) Love you and miss you guys! Happy Easter!

Tiffany- you will be happy to hear that we went to both Sunrise Service and regular Service...and would you believe, we didn't sing Up From the Grave He Arose or He Lives....although we did hear some other classic Easter songs that still made me HAPPY! I did sing all the way home, though!! :-) Love you!!
